Choosing what to wear for your upcoming session can be a daunting task. “What should I wear for my photo shoot?” is probably the #1 question that I am asked when someone books their session with me. Today I have compiled some tips/tricks for creating a beautiful wardrobe for your session.
1. Choose a color palate that suits your home. To ensure that your images flow with the decor of your home try and pick some key colors from your home decor and incorporate them into your wardrobe. If the walls in your home are red, a purple color scheme is not going to fit in with your decor. I suggest having an idea on where you want your wall art and build the style around that area in you home.
2. Once you have a color palate that suits you and your family, pick one person to wear the focal piece. It can be patterned or plaid shirt, a little girl’s floral dress, etc. Once you have your focal piece, build your other outfits with the complementary colors. As you can see in the picture below, we dressed the youngest girl in a pink and blue floral dress and used complimentary colors throughout the rest of the family.
4. Accessorize! I love accessories! They lend color, texture and interest to your outfits. Chose complimentary jewelry, shoes and hair pieces. Dads and boys can use vests, hats and even a bow-tie for added interest. Just be careful to not overpower your outfit with too much as it will take away from the photography.
5. Have fun and be comfortable. The most important advice that I give is to have fun and be comfortable in what you are wearing.
